Technology: AutoSyP Alexa Juarez worked at Rice 360° as Global Health Fellow from 2014-2015 and a Whitaker International Fellow from 2015-2016. Her work focused on the development of a low-powered syringe pump, where she implemented pilot clinical trials in pediatric and maternity wards in Blantyre, Malawi. As a Whitaker International Fellow, she worked with Basic Health International and Rice 360° to implement the mHRME at the International Cancer Institute in El Salvador as an alternative method to detect cervical cancer. Alexa is currently pursuing her MPH in Global Health at the University of Washington, where her research focus in on digital health and improving data collection systems in South Africa.
