Rice360 honors Virginia Sall '71 with Global Champion Award

Rice alumnae Virginia Sall ’71 (left) and Dr. Tara Barry ’10 (front right) with Rice global health technologies students at the May 6 Rice360 Institute for Global Health Technologies graduate recognition and awards breakfast. Sall, a philanthropist and co-founder of the Sall Family Foundation, was presented Rice360’s inaugural Global Champion Award. Barry, a surgeon at the University of South Florida’s Morsani College of Medicine, was recognized with the Rice360 Alumni Leadership Award.

Virginia Sall was recognized with the Rice360 Global Champion Award for her “individual commitment to global health and improving health equity for all people worldwide, while inspiring new graduates.” Sall has supported and worked in nonprofit organizations for more than 30 years, serves on the board of directors for the Environmental Defense Fund and previously served on the boards of CARE, World Wildlife Fund and La Leche League International.
